Round Table

Functioning as multinational corporation that promotes cultural capital as its most important product, FLOREZCA creates, sells, and exhibits original works of art that address issues impacting immigrant and migrant communities.  Rooted in a conceptual art practice, the corporation functions both as art and business. “Creatively changing the world” is the corporation’s slogan, asserting that through a creative, collective process art can and does change the world. FLOREZCA was formed in 2010 and will soon convert into a stock corporation inviting international investment.

From inception, FLOREZCA has simulated a real corporate entity that in turn has a positive impact on reality. Inspired by the legend of King Arthur and the knights of the round table, FLOREZCA presents a dramatic performance around a 12-foot wooden table that highlights the permeable edge between what is art and what is business.  FlOREZCA’S ROUND TABLE delivers voice projections, in circumference formation, by individual members of FLOREZCA’s board of advisors as they address issues relevant to their characters.  Ranging from immigrants to corporate entities, the voices make up all the connective industries and relationships working within FLOREZCA, and the individual struggles to arrive at a more progressive collective agenda. The symbolism of place in FLOREZCA’S ROUND TABLE is something that is felt equally: here, no person ranks above or below another, and thoughts about status get replaced with a shared, collective spirit to creatively construct a positive, community vision.
